A new article on the SPRINTT trial has been published open access in Experimental Gerontology.

It describes case finding, screening process and the characteristics of eligible participants of the SPRINTT trial.

A dedicated symposium on the SPRINTT project was held during the 14th EUGMS congress

On October 11th, during the 14th EUGMS congress (Berlin, Germany), there was a dedicated symposium on the SPRINTT project.

The chairman was prof. Roberto Bernabei, the Principal Investigator of the SPRINTT project.

In this occasion, prof Francesco Landi presented the baseline data from the clinical trial, whereas dr. Emanuele Marzetti described the Biomarker Ancillary Study: rationale, methods and expected outcomes. Finally dr. Daniel Rooks talked about anti-sarcopenic drugs in the pipeline.

THE SPRINT-T ANNUAL MEETING JUST TOOK PLACE IN BASEL SWITZERLAND!!

The SPRINT-T members gathered at the 2017 annual meeting of the project at the Novartis site (Basel, Switzerland), on June 1st and 2nd, 2017.

This meeting provided an opportunity to present and discuss the progress of the SPRINT-T project and its RCT. During this event it was announced that the clinical trial enrolled its thousandth participant.

Since the aim is still to enroll several other community-dwelling older people across ten European countries, it is still possible to volunteer for participation.

A special issue of the journal Aging Clinical and Experimental Research entirely devoted to the SPRINTT project has been just published.

It includes 14 scientific papers presenting the SPRINTT project background and preliminary results.

Articles are published in the section for Researchers and for Healthcare providers.

What are the main aims of the SPRINTT trial?

The SPRINTT project is the largest European clinical study aimed at investigating whether physical disability may be prevented in older subjects with physical frailty and sarcopenia.

Two interventions will be compared in the SPRINTT trial:

1)       A multicomponent intervention, based on physical activity and nutrition counselling, with support of specific technological devices;
